Working Women - Earning Women - Virtuous Women

This is a post by Tomilola Adeshina.

GET SOMETHING DOING
I had to take time out to write this epistle because I see a lot of women around, falling into this mistake over and remains trapped unknowingly.
It greatly saddens my heart when a woman gives up her dreams for family sake, yet suffers at old. Never give up on your dreams; not in this generation! Not ever! The family is important and should come first but you have a purpose in life to fulfill as well.
Ladies, follow your passion before you ever think of settling down. Stop using marriage as an escape route with the thinking that all you need is a man. Stop jumping around digging for gold when you are far less than a wood. An average man in this 21st century cannot meet 50% of your needs, talk more your wants. In many cases, men are only interested in raising their children and the little benefits you get from them are simply because you are the caretaker raising their children.
Only about a handful of men truly show genuine care for their wives. Such men will never ask you to give up your dreams. They would rather give you all the support you need and stand by you in raising your children together. If they feel you really need to pay much attention to the children because they’ll be away for a long while, they’ll set up a business for you no matter how small or give you an opportunity to further your studies for continuous personal self-development. A lot of men, however, have very little regard for their wives and easily forget how their wives have given up so much.
Many married women are living a frustrated life in their matrimonial homes because they have been totally dependent on a man. They ask their husbands everything they need; from toiletries to head weaves. They cannot afford to buy even a pair of shoes for their children or give their husbands a surprise birthday gift.
Times are changing and the economy is fast depreciating that an average man can no longer bear the burden of expenses from the home front alone. No woman should be without any form of work, asides taken care of the family. It does not necessarily have to be a paid job. As a matter of fact, it must be a job that would afford her time for the family. If you need to learn a skill, do so diligently and begin to try your hands on how to turn such skills into money making venture, however little it would generate at start up.
Don’t sit at home all day, waiting to greet your husband with loads of bill, when all he wants to do is relax, cool off from the pressure of the day’s work and have a warm atmosphere from his home (wife and kids) at least.
When your midlife sets in, let it not be filled with crisis, centering on regrets of not following your dreams and becoming what you wanted when you could have, while giving adequate attention to your home.

Remember this: one day, your children will all leave home for greener pastures or to start their families. They would have bills to foot and their immediate family will become their first priority. Sometimes, you might not even see them as often as you ever imagined. Then it will dawn on you that you are back to being alone and not many have survived this stage successfully. Be wise! Act now because the clock is fast ticking. Life is unpredictable and can be full of tricks. Start something no matter how small. You don’t need a shop or an office space to take the first leap. It is drops of water that become a mighty ocean.
Let me burst your bubble in case you don’t know this or you’ve never come across these verses in your bible: Proverbs 31: A virtuous woman who can find? For her price is far above rubies (10). She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands (13). She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens (15). She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard (16). She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night (18). She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy (20). She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant (24). Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her (28).
It is not too late, you can make it! Just start now!
