Preparing for funding

I have  recently come across a couple of scholarships for women. These scholarships are quite competitive and do not open up for application until later in the year (I shall put up the adverts then). I however think that there is a need to prepare ahead for these opportunities.
Most of the funding bodies require you to have gotten an admission into a University for a research degree. Remember,  a lot of these applications are open for a one to two month period. A time frame within which it might be difficult to get a supervisor, secure an admission and get a proof of admittance into your program. Therefore, it is important to prepare ahead by seeking the admission early. This way, you have a proof of admittance before the scholarship application window closes.
Another important requirement is a research proposal. Writing a proposal prior to starting your research can be somewhat tasking. This task requires a good dose of research and time. To write a good proposal, you need time to study quite a number of published articles, meditate on them, develop your own ideas and write it down it the simplest and most captivating way. You might even want to send it out to couple of people to read through for you before you are satisfied with it.
Your statement of purpose and CV are other documents that might be required. It is also important you get these ready.
This is not to say that all scholarships have the same requirements, but many times, the requirements are similar. Plus when you have a good template, you can always tweak it to suite the application you are making.

I hope you guys prepare now so we can celebrate your success when you land your research funding. Good luck.
