Chevening Masters Scholarship, UK, 2017

Applications for the Chevening 2017/2018 scholarships are now open. The Chevening scholarship is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. Its purpose is to contribute to the development of global leaders. Applicants can choose any course of study at a UK higher education institution bearing in mind the UK priorities in their country. 

Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country
Return to their country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after award has ended
Have an undergraduate degree that will enable them to gain entry to a postgraduate programme at a UK university. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.
Have at least two years’ work experience (this may be up to five years for fellowship programmes)
Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 13 July 2017
Meet the Chevening English language requirement by 13 July 2017.

Scholarship includes:

University tuition fees 
A monthly stipend 
Travel costs to and from the UK 
An arrival allowance 


Homeward departure allowance
The cost of one visa application
A travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK

Mid-November to December 2016Independent reading committees assess eligible applications
January to early February 2017Applicants are shortlisted for interviews by the British Embassies/High Commissions in-country
By mid-February 2017Applicants are notified that they have been selected for interview
6 March to 5 May 2017Global interview period
Early June 2017Announcement of interview results
13 July 2017Deadline for UK university unconditional offers
13 July 2017 Deadline for meeting English language requirement
September/October 20172017/2018 Chevening Scholars commence their studies in the UK
